The town of Blue Ridge is known for being the center of art in the state. It has fondly been called the ‘Switzerland of the South’ because of the many arts and crafts galleries and live music performance you can enjoy. Wooded areas surround the small town which is ideal for hiking trail adventures, and if you love kayaking, you can also do this activity in the nearby Ocoee River.
Then there is a town on Pine Mountain which is adjacent to the Calloway Gardens resort where you can find beautiful gardens, lakes and golf courses. The town proper is where you can find things local and here you get a taste of southern cuisine at their traditional restaurants; there are also antique shops and other shops selling local items. If you need accommodations, you can stay at Calloway Gardens or stay in nearby apartments in LaGrange, GA which is the city next to this town.
You can also go to the sandy beaches and sand dunes of Tybee island, which is a few hours’ drive from Savannah. Water and land activities are plenty in this 22 square mile island. You can also sit along the beachfront and enjoy the view from the island.
You can also have an adventure hiking trail through the Cohutta Mountains of Georgia, called the Panther Creek Trail. What is great about this trail is that you can see majestic waterfalls along the way which flows in multiple tiers and ends up in a pool of clear, crisp water. If you want to spend time away from the noise of city life, then this is a great place to enjoy peace and quiet amid the relaxing sound of the waterfalls. There are also campsites on both sides of the falls where you can camp with your friends.
In the Providence National Park lies the Providence Canyon which is Georgia’s version of the Grand Canyon. During the summer months the place is bright with colors of orange, red, yellow, and purple. If you want to take the canyon hands on, you can do so with hiking and rock-climbing activities in the place.
